At last – Comet McNaught shoots the sky

After a few nights of false starts, Joburg residents finally got to see the spectacular Comet McNaught.

A few grainy pics taken with a fairly basic camera (that seems to have 2 problematic pixels) are included – would love to see some from Joburg with a pro camera. Awesome images like this one in the Wiki entry, and Bruce Gillespie’s on News24.

These are taken from the top of Craighall Park, just before 8pm & looking WSW (West South West for non-geographers) – slightly south of Northcliff Hill.

A little closer

Closest the zoom goes…

Its going to be hanging around tomorrow night as well (Friday 19th Jan) – so head for the hills. Credit to the Crawford’s for the pics.
